AWANA is a children’s ministry dedicated to training children on how to be approved workmen who are not ashamed of the gospel message.  This is done through Bible verse memorization, counsel time, and through evangelization.  The children are encouraged to not only memorize Bible verses, but to practically apply them in their lives.

Cubbies: Ages 3-5 (Preschool)
Sparks: Grades K-2
Truth & Training: Grades 3-6

Ministry Meeting Times:
Every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, except holiday.

Ministry Worker Requirements:
Commitment Level:
Either on as needed or full year basis.

Skills/Training Required:
A desire to train and mentor the children at PBC.

Time Required:
Two hours on Wednesdays during the club meeting time (some will need to arrive early and stay later for set-up and clean-up), as well as occasional meetings for section awards parties.

Information for the 2010-11 AWANA Club

Parents interested in putting their children in AWANA should now take some time to consider registering your child. You may register today and next Sunday between the morning services at the designated table located directly outside the church main entrance. Register early - it fills up quickly.

AWANA will be meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM beginning September 15. Things you will need in order to register: 1) name and phone number of your child’s pediatrician, 2) cash or check (made out to PBC) for the cost of registration/book/optional additional resources, and 3) a willingness to be involved rotationally as a parent helper in your child’s class. The registration forms for all three clubs are available on the PBC website (www.placeritachurch.org) for you to download and print. Once on the main page, click on "AWANA" on the left sidebar. The AWANA Calendar for 2010-2011 is now available on the website as well.

For parents interested in the AWANA Cubbies program for your 3-5 year-old (pre-K), please take note that this year’s program will be capped at 36 clubbers. Preference will be given to those parents that serve in the club on a regular basis on any level, Please note that your child must also be potty trained before being eligible to attend club.

This year the whole club will be introducing mandatory parent involvement. Each club, T & T (grades 3-6), Sparks (grades K-2), and Cubbies (ages 3-5), will have different requirements. Please be prepared to volunteer for your first required date at the time of registration. You will not be allowed to register without signing up for a date.

There will be a Parent/Leader Meeting on Wednesday, September 8, in Modular Room 1. The parent meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with the leader meeting following directly afterwards until 8:00 PM.
